ABOUT ARCHERADE
Hello friends, we’re so glad you’re here!
Sasha Oda is the owner, designer and principal maker at Archerade. She has been a goldsmith for the past 10ish years, which doesn’t include the 3 years she spent studying the craft at George Brown College. Take our word for it - jewellery school is a lot more work and stress than you would think. Don’t worry though, it was well worth it:)
Currently, all the jewellery magic happens in the loveliest west-end Toronto studio called Goldspell - check it out if you’re local! Sasha shares this studio space with a select few other goldsmiths (who are all amazing of course), and though they each run their own businesses, they all have the opportunity to collaborate and share in the goldsmithing magic together.
For Sasha, this magic starts from the first whispers of inspiration, and doesn’t rest until the piece is finished. The majority of Archerade pieces are carved in wax, and then cast in either sterling silver or gold, and sometimes bronze. She takes great care to use recycled materials whenever possible, and always uses environmentally friendly materials and practices in the studio.
Being a designer and goldsmith (and pretty much sole employee!) is very hands-on work. From the initial sketch to the carving, casting and polishing, Sasha is one of the only people to touch the jewellery at all. This is pretty much a one-woman show here, you guys!
Sasha really loves her work, to an almost obsessive-but-hopefully-still-healthy degree. She wants nothing more than to pass this love and passion along to you, perfectly captured in pieces that you will love, wear and treasure for a lifetime.
